Mutant Mummy Hotdogs – A Perfect Pinterest Flop

I receive commissions for purchases made through links in this post. Please see our full disclosure policy for more details. Thank you for supporting Half-a-Hundred Acre Wood through your purchases.

The original pin:  a cute and simple recipe to celebrate our study of mummies and King Tut.

Only three ingredients?
Now THIS is my kind of cooking project!

…or so I thought…

My mummies did not look so cute.  They lost their eyeballs and were coming out of their wrappings – something akin to a genuine horror film.

Seriously, if this is not scary, I don’t know what is!

This should come as no great surprise, since we had already established the fact that I am NOT the world’s greatest chef. But my failure was partly because I improvised. Note that you should NOT substitute biscuits for breadsticks unless you are a little more skilled than I. (And for eyes, dots of mustard after baking really does work better than shoving peppercorns into the hot dogs before baking.)

For the sake of my children, let’s just hope I don’t find any other crazy cooking ideas on Pinterest!
