The Thanksgiving Tree Tradition

I receive commissions for purchases made through links in this post. Please see our full disclosure policy for more details. Thank you for supporting Half-a-Hundred Acre Wood through your purchases.

Every year during the month of November, we gather some sticks, cut out some “leaves,” and make a Thanksgiving Tree.  It is one of our most treasured traditions.

And every year, I love to go back through photos to see what the boys were thankful for in previous years…

I didn’t realize how much the boys look forward to this until we actually started writing out our blessings this weekend.  Normally, we make at least one leaf per day throughout the month of November, so our tree thus far is looking a little bare.  Nevertheless, our tradition still holds, and it delights my heart for it to grace our dinner table once again.

Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.  James 1:17

A few years ago, we designed a laser-crafted version for enjoying this tradition without the prep work of cutting out and hot-gluing a bunch of paper leaves to sticks…

Unfortunately, this item is no longer available in our shop due to the rising costs of supplies. Nevertheless, we wanted to share how our Thanksgiving Tree has grown over the years.

or download and print one of these leaf patterns.
