Monster Truck Party {Free Printables}

I receive commissions for purchases made through links in this post. Please see our full disclosure policy for more details. Thank you for supporting Half-a-Hundred Acre Wood through your purchases.

Five years ago, we were blessed with our third son, Levi, our Texas-born, Tennessee-raised country farmer, dirt-loving hillbilly boy who can name a thousand different pieces of construction equipment (and was able to pronounce the word “excavator” before he could say “cup”). But this year, he finally ventured out to something new… and asked for a monster truck party.

And so, in celebration of five years, we share his Monster Truck Birthday…

The Monster Truck Cake

As usual, Sara Lee Pound Cakes were our major item of construction. The ingredient list was:

  • 2 Sara Lee pound cakes
  • Four large donuts
  • Chocolate icing
  • White icing
  • Red food coloring
  • Yellow Gobstoppers
  • Yellow M&Ms
  • Crushed oreos

(Are the health nuts cringing yet?  If not, you will be by the end of this tour.)

I thought of about ten things I would have done differently, but Levi said it was the best monster truck cake EVER. So, I guess it was just about perfect after all!

The Drinks

We wrapped little paper templates around KoolAid drinks and Little Hug Fruit Barrels. [Scroll to the bottom of this post to download the free template!]

The Food

There were dipsticks (chocolate-dipped pretzels)…

King Krunch Krispies (Rice Krispie Treats with M&Ms)

Crushed Chunks (Cheese Cubes)

And…

  • Barrels:  Combos Pretzel Snacks
  • Cones:  Bugles
  • Predator’s Puffcorn: Cheetos
  • Cyclones: Spiral Corn Chips
  • Boulders & Bites: Whoppers & Marshmallows
  • Slap Wheelies: Cheerios
  • Sky Wheelies: Fruit Loops
  • Roll-Over Roll-Ups: Fruit Roll-ups
  • Spare tires: Chocolate Donuts
Children could also pick up a cup of “mud” (chocolate icing) to further enhance their chocolate donuts.

Sugar overload. Definitely.

The Games

Game Stations included:

  • Pin the License Plate on the Monster Truck
  • Monster Truck Smash: Rev-up Monster Trucks crash into cardboard boxes
  • Monster Truck Ramp Races: Hot Wheels Monster Trucks compete on the ramp obstacle course.
  • Monster Truck Straight Line: Rev-up Monster Trucks race against each other in a straight line.
  • Monster Truck Cityscape: Free play with monster trucks on a Hot Wheels rug
  • Monster Truck Freestyle:  It’s all about the tricks your rev-up monster truck can do.
Indoors festivities were followed by the Monster Truck Pinata. We were able to extend the life of our pinata by cutting out a place in the wheels and stuffing candy inside those areas as well.

You may notice some crazy war-like faces in the crowd. A friend of ours is a professional air-brush painter and does some very cool air-brush face painting. Stephen and I walked around as Darth Maul twins for the day. I’d post it here, but… do you really want to see me as Darth Maul?

Party favors were simple Hot Wheels trucks along with a few pieces of candy, in addition to the bunches of candy they grabbed from the pinata.  (And somehow, parents still come back to our parties time after time. Bless their hearts!)

The Printables

I always love to share my creations, so without further ado:
