Our CC Cycle 3 Booklist

I receive commissions for purchases made through links in this post. Please see our full disclosure policy for more details. Thank you for supporting Half-a-Hundred Acre Wood through your purchases.

Here’s our compiled booklist for CC Cycle 3 (with an American History focus). This is a “book buffet,” a place to pick and choose books that you think will be best for your family. The links will take you to descriptions of each book on Amazon. (We use affiliate links to cover the rising costs associated with maintaining and improving this website. We receive a commission off of purchases made through these links, which also ensures the continuation of this website; for our disclosure, please click here. Thank you for your support!)

Because I consider picture books and books with pictures two separate categories (in that many books with pictures are usually reference guides intended for upper elementary students), these books are loosely sorted by age group. Please keep in mind that I have not reviewed all the books listed but have researched reviews on-line and in catalogs in helping with these selections.

For a list of our personal favorites, visit our Cycle 3 read alouds and favorite Cycle 3 picture books.

Cycle 3 with Faith Focus

For a reading/curriculum plan that overlaps much of the memory work studied during Cycle 3 with an emphasis on America’s foundations of faith along with an integrated study of U.S. history, geography, and fine arts (along with science studies from a Christian worldview), check out our Mission: Lasting Liberty Curriculum Plan.

Note: Although Mission: Lasting Liberty is not directly correlated to the memory work, it includes a more complete study of anatomy, chemistry, and U.S. History. The books selected for this reading plan were chosen as long-term resources for students to use when they embark on research and world geography memorization in grades 7+. This study has been designed to be used independently of Classical Conversations®. For families who use Classical Conversations®, the readings assigned in the Mission: Lasting Liberty study overlap much of the memory work studied during Cycle 3 but are not correlated week by week. This provides an opportunity for ongoing review and integration of the memory work throughout the year.

I invested many hours in putting this together and post it here in hopes that the work I’ve put into it will also benefit others in the longrun. Please do not copy, paste, or upload this list (or parts of this list) on other websites or social media. If you wish to share it with others, please send them a link to this blog post. For more information, refer to my Terms of Use.

A formatted pdf of this booklist is available in our Cycle 3 Planning Resource Packet.
