Conversations from the Garden: Build a Biblical Worldview!

Imagine: 40 Days to Build a Biblical Worldview!

“Sadly, years of teaching have revealed this age group’s [age ten to thirteen] largely inadequate understanding of the character of God and the nature of man.”  -from Brimwood Press website

Our family has had the privilege of using Brimwood Press products in our study of history and worldview, and all of those products have proven especially excellent for promoting deeper learning and dialogue with our entering-the-logic-stage son. The Conversations from the Garden study guide from Brimwood Press focuses on Genesis 1-3 in solidifying a Christian young person’s knowledge and understanding of his faith. While many of Brimwood Press’s products were designed as tools for families of almost any faith or theology, this particular study was specifically developed to bolster a young Christian’s faith by exploring the character of God and the nature of man.  Although similar to a devotional, this guide explores the scriptures using open-ended questions designed to promote discussion within families and youth groups.

This is not a book with an answer key – it contains questions that promote the thinking process and provides “Socratic” dialogue within the family unit while pondering the ways of God. Containing over 40 dinner table (or, in our case, just-before-bedtime) discussions, this guide prompts conversations using good questions based upon the first three chapters of the Bible, which lay the foundation for the major themes, revelations, and ideas throughout the Scriptures.

I have personally treasured the wonderful dialogue that has come as a result of this study… and have discovered in many of those moments that I have much to learn from our oldest (ten-year-old) son.

To read more about why and how this book exists, read The Story behind Conversations from the Garden.
